Chlorophytum comosum ‘Ocean’ (Spider Plant) in 6cm Pot
€3.99 “Price excl. VAT: €3.52”
A slightly unusual form of the ever-popular spider plant, Chlorophytum comosum ‘Ocean’ has shorter, chunkier bright green leaves edged with creamy-white margins. As it matures, it produces long stems, each bearing a baby plant at the tip. These can be pegged down into compost and once rooted, the stem can be cut, giving you a brand-new plant to share with friends and family.
Spider plants are low-maintenance but benefit from consistent care for the best growth. Water freely during the active growing season in spring and summer, keeping the compost evenly moist, but reduce watering in winter to avoid waterlogging. Mist the foliage occasionally to increase humidity, especially in centrally heated rooms. Keep temperatures ideally between 16–24C and avoid allowing them to drop below 8C in winter. Feed every 2–3 weeks during the growing season with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser to encourage healthy foliage and plenty of offsets. Repot every couple of years, or when the roots become congested, using fresh compost to maintain nutrients and vigour.
