Dracaena sanderiana (Lucky Bamboo) in 6cm Growers Pot
€6.99 “Price excl. VAT: €6.16”
Lucky bamboo is a popular houseplant, valued for its attractive appearance, low maintenance needs and reputation for bringing good luck.
Despite its name, it isn’t true bamboo. It belongs to the Dracaena family and is known scientifically as Dracaena sanderiana. Also called Chinese water bamboo or friendship bamboo, it is native to Africa but is often cultivated in Taiwan and China, where stems are shaped into decorative forms.
In Feng Shui, lucky bamboo is believed to attract good fortune, with more stalks thought to increase wealth and prosperity. It is often placed facing east for health or south-east for wealth.
Grow it in bright, indirect light at 16–25C, away from draughts and heat sources. Keep it above 10C. Water when the top few centimetres of soil are dry, reduce watering in winter and feed lightly in spring and summer.
As the plant matures, it can become top-heavy. To manage its size, trim offshoots rather than the canes, which do not regrow, using clean scissors at any time of year.
