Ficus elastica (Rubber Plant) Mix in 6cm Pot

€4.99 “Price excl. VAT: €4.40”

Ficus elastica (Rubber Plant) gets its name from the milky latex sap found in its stems, which was historically explored as a source of rubber. Native to South Asia, it can reach up to 60m in its natural habitat, but typically grows to around 2m as a houseplant.

Place in bright, indirect light and water when the top 2 inches of compost have dried out. It appreciates good humidity, which can be supported by occasional misting or placing the plant on a tray of moist pebbles. Wipe the leaves regularly to remove dust and keep them looking their best. Feed monthly with a balanced liquid fertiliser during spring and summer and reduce watering during the cooler, lower-light months.

Rubber plants prefer infrequent repotting, as disturbing the roots can cause transplant shock. Repot every few years in spring or summer. A plastic or ceramic pot is ideal, as terracotta allows compost to dry out more quickly.
