Hypoestes phyllostachya ‘Carnaval’ Mix 12cm Pot

Hypoestes phyllostachya, or polka dot plant, is a bushy house plant native to Madagascar and parts of southern Africa and south-east Asia. It is popular for its colourful spotted leaves and is well suited to terrariums.

Available in varieties with pink, red, white or purple markings, polka dot plants thrive in warm, humid conditions with bright, indirect light.

Grow in peat-free house-plant compost and keep the plant in a warm environment (ideally above 15°C) with around 50% humidity. Water when the top layer of compost has dried out, reducing watering in winter. Feed monthly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a liquid house-plant fertiliser and remove flowering stems to encourage bushier, more attractive growth.
