Peperomia caperata ‘Lilian’ in 12cm Pot

Peperomia caperata is a small houseplant with very dark green leaves, lovely red to purple stems and interesting rat tail shaped flowers. They are not too demanding and are popular terrarium plants, but will also thrive on their own in your home.

Light: These plants can be found in the rainforest so are more than used to diffused light. Medium to low lighting is just fine.

Water: Allow the top inch or two of soil to dry out between each watering and do not let the plant sit in soggy soil. They can handle some unintentional neglect, so don’t worry if you miss a watering or two!

Temperature/Humidity: The peperomia will be fine in regular room temperature and humidity, although may benefit from a terrarium setting or the occasional misting in the warmer months.
